The Rory Huskin Story

I never thought I would live past the age of 30, but I audibly heard a voice say,

“YOU’VE BEEN SENTENCED TO LIVE”

Rory’s love for music came at an early age through is family.   He remembers his grandma taking him to local nursing homes to play guitar which led to playing in bands with his dad and brother as a young man.  However, a successful roofing business was the path that Rory would be destined to take and music was put on the back burner.

Rory spent most of his childhood in Pueblo, Colorado, but graduated from Arvada High School in 1979.  After high school, Rory attended Cathedral Bible College.

Rory’s life changing story shares his experience of growing up in an abusive home where alcoholism controlled their family.  Tragedy was a part of his life as well.  He lost his brother and father to car accidents within a year.   These devastating events led Rory to question God and His existence in Rory’s life.  Soon after, Rory found himself on a similar path of destruction with alcohol, violence and drug abuse.

A few days before his 31st birthday, Rory was at his lowest point.  He never thought he would live past the age of 30, and as he reflected on his life, Rory heard an audible voice say “YOU’VE BEEN SENTENCED TO LIVE”.

Even after hearing these words, Rory fell into destructive behavior and found himself in prison.  But this is where Rory’s life was saved and his life fell into place.  He realized that he didn’t like himself and that’s why he was harming himself and others.  “You can’t love someone else if you don’t even like you”.   Rory’s heart was changed for the good and his life was given back to him.

Rory met the love of his life, Mischa in 1992.  They have weathered the storm of life and came out on the other side more in love.    They have 8 beautiful daughters and 10 wonderful grandchildren.  Rory is the owner of Cornerstone Roofing, a successful roofing business that services Southern Colorado.  He and Mischa are active in their community serving on various boards and projects that are close to their hearts.

Through all of this, music found it’s way back to Rory.  He is excited to announce his debut album that is releasing April 30, 2020.  Recorded at Perfect World Music Studio in Pueblo, Colorado, this project promises to share a message of hope.  Rory’s story reminds us that there is always hope and that God will never give up on you.
